Do you wanna beef up ?

2019 had just begun but has snapped off more than half of my dreams in no time. It was more of a let down than gain in any way. Be it Game of Thrones on screen or in the actual sense. This year's election was weighed onto be one of the greatest historical events in the country. With a great proportion of first-time voters, it truly was monumental.

Expectations aside, the ugly war of memes and trolls took over as soon as the election ballot opened. Grieving Rahul Gandhi and an overjoyed Modi took down all social media networks.
I do not have a favorite political party or leader but that does not mean I don't have an opinion. The sheer lack of good leaders in the game has always taken its toll.

When the GOT reference meme that said: "The south shall remain an independent kingdom."; surfaced the internet we South Indians didn't lose a moment in sharing them. While many took their own offense and beefed up with the others (pun intended); everybody failed to understand why it made sense on the bigger picture.

The BJP lost their south support due to some of their policies and ideologies. It was narrowed down to the consumption of beef but the big picture is still hidden. Consumption of beef was just one of the reasons and not the only one. But it was clear enough to show how the minorities in the country were being suppressed and had to lead a life in terror.

I belong to that minority. The very same minority who thinks and believes that you should have the freedom to choose what to wear, what to eat and what to do ( without crossing the limits of other person's freedom). The very same minority who do not want Hindi as our sole 'Rashtra Basha'. The very same minority who do not want India to be a Hindu country. The very same minority who fears to speak out loud because even a Facebook post or blog write-up could land you in jail!

Radical posts that called down beef-eaters and shamed them and was described as people who would eat anything because they are of a low caste and many more such bullshit posts misdirected the movement that had begun to cater to the woes and worries of the minority communities. The same that had gone wrong for the feminist movement. A movement which had come up to support and encourage women to be at par with the men had faced a misdirection and narrowed down to man-hating females.

It was the oppression that the minority feared that had come up as trolls and memes against the government. Again this misdirection led to fellow community members calling the rest of the country senseless and illiterate.

While we had the choice to not like them, they too clearly had the choice to like them and hence vote for them. There are good policies and some great initiatives which the BJP Government had successfully pulled off in the last term. The Swacch Bharat Abhiyan and Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao Yojna added Golden feathers to their crown.

Like a coin has two sides, the present government could be bad or good which would differ relatively from person to person. I wish all good luck and the best of wishes to the new government. All the while I sincerely hope that the put down the fear of being oppressed.

PS.
(a)
I resorted to posting this on my blog because of the fear of landing up in jail. Yes, it is so very possible in my country.

(b)

People who need clarification on the Hindi as our official language part.
Here is the breakdown.

"There is no national language in India. The Constitution of India designates 22 official languages for the Government of India and as Hindi - written in the Devanagari script, as well as English as the official languages of the Union. Hindi or English is used in official purposes such as parliamentary proceedings, judiciary, communications between the Central Government and a State Government. States within India have the liberty and powers to specify their own official language(s) through legislation and therefore there are 22 officially recognized languages in India of which Hindi is the most used."

Now that your knowledge has been updated, I hope the next time you will beef up regarding this matter, you will have a valid set of points.

Also, here is to your vocabulary;

Beef - to complain or put up a fight

So here is Reshmy Raphy signing off and you will see my post soon if I do not end up in prison.
